First, what are pinafores you may ask? Well, those sleeveless dresses you were wearing as a child. At least, I did.
They highly resemble aprons if I may add, but, styled the right way they can look really chic with a healthy dose of quirky. Alexa Chung for example, is fan of both pinafores and dungarees too, dungarees, are the denim & pants counterpart, actually, similar to denim jumpsuits.
I can picture Zooey Deschanel’s character in New Girl, Jess Day, in pinafores. Though, I did search a bit because I’m sure I saw Jess on the show wearing one, or several, I couldn’t find any proof. You need to trust me on this one.
You can go for an edgy look with an oversized cropped top underneath , or a minimal one & cutout details. Go grunge with tartan print and leather accents or keep it classy with a simple white shirt and preppy cardigan.
